PV Sindhu Loses to 17 Years Old Korean

Badminton Champion PV Sindhu was left stunned when 17 years old An Se Young recorded the biggest victory of her career by winning over Sindhu by 21-24 and 21-27 in the second round of the Denmark Open BWF Super- 750 Tournament in Odense.

In the men’s singles and doubles too Sameer Verma went down to China’s Cheng Long (12-21, 10-21) and Sai Praneeth also lost to Japan’s Kento Momota (6-21, 14-21).

Though PV Sindhu recorded a better performance compared to men players, this is the 3rd time straight exit for her after her historical woods title in August. She lost in the second round of China Open and the first round of the Korea Open last month.

Young won the Canada Open this year. She had lost in the final of the Hyderabad Open in August. In her short career till now Sindhu is her 1st high profile victim. The Korean teen attacked Sindhu with fast paced drives and down the line smashes, mainly on the backhand drives.

Young stands 19 in the world badminton. She started with a 6-1 lead. Sindhu reduced the deficit to 7-8 but Young raced ahead with a 14-7. She found many gaps in Sindhu’s game with effortless ease. In the second game, Sindhu recovered with 8-4 lead and till the break point it was 11-9. But after the break Young caught Sindhu’s service error and used it.  The Korean was able to collect six straight points to knock Sindhu out after she made some unforced errors.

It is being said that lack of time to practice is affecting Sindhu’s performance on court.
