Messi Becomes the Highest Goal Scorer in La Liga

Lionel Messi added another feather in his cap after he became the first person to score the highest goals in La Liga league at Nou Camp. He scored his 400th goal against Eibar for Barcelona in the match in which the latter defeated the former team with a score 3-0. Messi had already achieved the feat of scoring the highest number of goals for Spain. This was Messi’s 435th game and scoring 400 goals in these many matches reflects how consistent he is when it comes to contributing by scoring a goal. Messi scored the second goal in the match against Eibar when Barca’s Luis Suarez already scored the first goal.

With this win, Barcelona grabbed the top position by crossing Atletico Madrid by taking a lead of five points in the league. Messi has managed to become the second footballer to score 400 goals after Christian Ronaldo at the top spot. But the fact to note here is that Messi has achieved this milestone 63 games earlier than Christiano Ronaldo.

Messi received appreciations from everyone and people congratulated him on his achievement. In order to congratulate him, his teammates have posted greetings messages on various social media platforms. “It would be an astonishing statistic if he were just a goal scorer, but he’s so much more than that. We’re blessed to live in his time,” tweeted former Barcelona striker Gary Lineker.

“His numbers are stratospheric, incredible,” said Barcelona coach Ernesto Valverde of Messi after the win over Eibar. “He is from another galaxy.” Messi is also the leading scorer in La Liga with Juventus’s Christiano Ronaldo at the second spot with 311 goals in 292 games at Real Madrid. The third position is grabbed by Telmo Zarra who scored 251 goals in La Liga.
